Roaming and eating our way through Columbus and beyond.

Eat Purr Love Cat Cafe

{by alicia} It’s no secret I’m a crazy cat lady.I mean, half my Instagram stories revolve around my cat Jinx. I adore her, but she is possessive and makes it impossible for us rescue additional furry friends. Here’s the thing: I WANT TO RESCUE ALL THE FRIENDS but I have to respect my insane cat’s wishes. Fortunately, I found a way to flirt with strange cats without upsetting mine.

Eat Purr Love Cafe is a cat lover’s dream located in Clintonville. You know those cat cafes in Tokyo? Welcome to our very own in the Midwest. Now, you can stroll in and try your luck, but I would recommend making a reservation. The cafe is closed on Mondays, but you can get your fix Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. and 4–7 p.m.

We were early for our appointment so we ordered coffee and pastries from Pattycake Bakery. I hovered around the windows looking into the kitty playroom and squee’d until it was time to enter.
You have an hour to frolic with cats, and this is tracked by an adorable timer that can double as a toy!
Once I got in there I have to confess I didn’t know what to do. I was overwhelmed by cats prancing about with toys, piles of squishy cats napping, cats slinking up high on shelves, and cats in BOWTIES. CAT OVERLOAD IT WAS AMAZING.

I sat with my coffee and soaked it all in until a little friend named Boots decided to make my acquaintance.

Did we just become best friends?

The only downside is he captured my heart, and I wanted to take him home. The cafe also doubles as an adoption center so I was sorely tempted, but I had to remind myself of my own cat at home. It’s fine. There were plenty of kitties to fawn over.

You know what’s next level? Having a frequent visitor punch card to the kitty cafe. Yes, I am now a card-carrying, crazy cat lady.

Visit the cafe’s website for more information plus upcoming events–like yoga and painting parties with cats!
