Flower Arranging at Flowers and Bread

{by alexis} Fresh flowers are my jam.

A group of food bloggers recently got together at Clintonville’s farmhouse chic Flowers and Bread for a chance to sample the menu and play with handfuls of flower blooms! We started with snacks. I mean, we’re food bloggers and all.

But I thought the best part was the flowers. We were there for a workshop on making nosegays — tiny little bouquets that were carried by the fanciest of ladies in all the olden times. I was just ready to get my hands dirty and dive into these buckets!

They had a lovely collection of white garden roses and spray roses, soft lavender, and fragrant eucalyptus. I was particularly drawn to the purple lisianthus. They were really set off by the white spray roses, and complemented by the lavender. As we got started with the workshop, I hoarded all the purple flowers and bartered for more. I’m pretty popular at these events, as I’m sure you’ve guessed.

And then they brought out the amaranthus. I quickly became obsessed with these long, draping, fuzzy blooms, and I thought the bright green was particularly lovely with the purple of the lisianthus.

Afterward, we even got to sneak upstairs to preview the gorgeous event space! The room is furnished with two long tables (that will beautifully host floral centerpieces) set off by bold and on-theme wallpaper. The space holds about 20 people and would be perfect for small showers or parties.

Flowers and Bread offers regular hours to pop in for a snack, lunch, or even bread for dinner, and regularly hosts cooking and floral arranging events. In fact, if you’re looking for a buddy for a floral class, I’m your girl! I had a wonderful evening, and can’t wait to do it again!
